Managing Anxiety

Quiet the noise of intrusive thoughts and regain control over your daily life with gentle, effective techniques.

Healing Without Reliving

Your safety and comfort are prioritised above all else. In Solution Focused sessions, we focus on where you want to be, not where you have been. This means there is absolutely no need to relive painful memories or talk through trauma to experience profound and lasting positive change.

Ready to experience a positive shift? Your journey to emotional freedom begins with a single, gentle step.

Overcoming Stress

Lower your stress bucket and find a sustainable sense of calm in even the most demanding environments.

Healing Trauma

Work with the subconscious to safely process the past, allowing you to move forward with a renewed sense of empowerment.

Begin Your Journey Today

The first step toward positive change is often the most important. Initial consultations are conducted online, with options for home visits to suit your comfort. Together, we will focus on your future, helping you find relief from stress and anxiety within a safe, compassionate space.

Your Typical Session

At Orange Lily, we focus on where you want to be, rather than reliving painful memories of the past. Our sessions are designed to be a gentle, restorative space for your mind. We start with a supportive conversation about your progress and the positive changes you’re beginning to notice, followed by guided relaxation and hypnotherapy to help your subconscious consolidate these new, healthy patterns.

We understand that life can be busy and sometimes leaving home is difficult. That’s why our initial consultations are conveniently held online, allowing you to start your journey from the comfort of your own safe space. For ongoing sessions, home visit options are also available to ensure you feel entirely at ease throughout our time together. Home visits are available locally to Saffron Walden.

Understanding the Brain and Emotional Wellbeing

Modern neuroscience helps us understand how the brain responds to stress, trauma, and everyday life experiences. The intellectual part of the brain often referred to as the “thinking brain” allows us to reason, problem solve, and make balanced decisions. The subconscious or primitive brain is designed to protect us from danger. When a threat is perceived, whether real or imagined, the primitive brain activates survival responses such as anxiety, anger, depression, fight, flight, or freeze. While these responses are essential in genuinely dangerous situations, spending prolonged periods in a heightened stress state can lead to negative thinking patterns and emotional overwhelm. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy often describes this accumulation of stress as a “stress bucket.” When stress and negative thinking build up over time, the bucket can overflow, resulting in anxiety, hypervigilance, poor concentration, low mood, obsessive thinking, and difficulty coping.

Neuroplasticity and Positive Change

For many years it was believed that the adult brain was fixed and unable to change. Modern neuroscience now shows that the brain continually adapts throughout life through a process known as neuroplasticity. Our thoughts, emotions, experiences, and behaviours create neural pathways connections within the brain that strengthen the more they are used. This explains why patterns such as anxiety, low self-esteem, stress responses, or unwanted habits can begin to feel automatic over time. The encouraging news is that healthier pathways can also be created. By practicing new ways of thinking, responding, and behaving, the brain can develop stronger, more supportive patterns while older, unhelpful patterns gradually weaken. Therapeutic approaches such as hypnotherapy and psychotherapy support this process by helping clients access the subconscious mind, increase self-awareness, and develop healthier emotional and behavioural responses. Relaxed therapeutic states can make the brain more receptive to positive suggestions, emotional processing, and lasting change. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines modern neuroscience with approaches including: •Solution Focused Therapy •Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) •Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) •Brain-based therapeutic techniques This integrated approach supports clients in making positive and sustainable changes in a relatively short space of time.
